André Téchiné, one of the master directors of French cinema, delicately explores sexual identity and the pains of growing up in his new film. The story revolves around two high school friends: Damien, who lives with his doctor mother Marianne, and Thomas, who lives on a farm with his sick mother. The tumultuous relationship between these two young men from different social classes begins to change when Marianne invites Thomas to their home so he can study. The film, which competed for the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, was praised for the performances of young actors Kacey Mottet Klein and Corentin Fila, Téchiné's mastery of the coming-of-age story, and the fresh and hopeful perspective it brings.
